at first Kandhi wants to send Zoey home, but then decides to take her along, remembering that Zoey is the blueprint for the new UPD, and so she might be useful. explaining the project to Zoey, she also explains why she picked her. You, of all people, should understand. She needed a test with few variables, a limited range, narrow conditions, where expected results should approximate actual results most closely, so she picked the most boring, the most unremarkable, the most limited person she knew - Zoey. But something seems to have gone askew. The device has picked up interference, it has recorded a different experience along with the Zoey persona (that of the package, though Kandhi doesn't realize this yet), hence the unpredictability, the green bay factor, for example.
don't forget Kandhi asks Zoey what she meant with her socialnet posting about 'today is the day' and Zoey tells her she never posted it. Kandhi realizes that the New-PD is logging as if it were Zoey - a tracking possibility!
but is leonora going to green bay? is the device now incorporating a third personality into the mix? has it failed to stop capturing while in playback mode? also, the thing about "the container", being programmed too literally ... also, Leonora decides to get off the bus and hitchhike - after all, she is in no hurry. she will be 'scanned' in different locations (checked out by guys) and followed by their comments about her on the social net (shades of WWA) ... with her mass of tangled blonde hair, her oversize army jacket, her overalls and combat boots, she is certainly noticed as she makes her way through the heartland ... (on the ground, not air, because of zoey's phobia, of course ... and also, she is behaving like a package in transit ...
it becomes a cat and mouse chase between the UPD and the New-PD, as Kandhi calls it, a battle of wits between advanced devices. At what point does the NewPD come to realize it's being followed, and by who (or what)?
